With the wedding season in India currently ongoing, many dramatic and strange stories have emerged. In one such bizarre incident reported from the Orai region of Uttar Pradesh, during the wedding ceremony, the bride canceled the wedding and refused to marry after her groom failed to read an Indian newspaper that she asked him to read. However, the reason for the groom's failure to read the newspaper was not due to illiteracy or a problem reading Hindi, but rather the groom's poor eyesight, which was the actual reason for his inability to read the newspaper. Reportedly, the bride requested the groom to read the newspaper without wearing his glasses.
According to the reports, not only did the bride's family cancel the wedding, but they also filed a lawsuit against the groom and his family. Arjun Singh, a resident of Jamalipur village in the Sadar Kotwali area, had arranged for his daughter Archana's marriage to Shivam, who lives in the Ashalda town under the Banshi police jurisdiction. The girl's father saw Shivam as an educated man and scheduled the wedding for June 20.
On the day of the wedding, the bride's family welcomed the wedding procession with gifts of a motorcycle and some cash for the groom. The wedding guests were treated with utmost care, and the groom was seated on a royal wedding chair. However, in the meantime, the women from the bride's side noticed that the groom was constantly wearing glasses, which led them to become suspicious about his poor eyesight. When the bride heard that the groom could not see without wearing his glasses, she was shocked and refused to marry him, asking him to read the newspaper to dispel her doubts.
Meanwhile, the bride's father stated that when he first saw the groom before the marriage was finalized, he believed he wore glasses for style, but on the wedding day, he discovered the truth about the groom's poor eyesight and refused to marry his daughter to him.
