Saudi Arabia Announces "Mahram" Conditions for Hajj Season

Saudi Arabia Announces

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that maternal uncles or aunts cannot be added as a mahram for women wishing to perform Hajj who have registered through the electronic platform for this year. According to the newspaper "Okaz," the ministry stated, "Only the listed mahrams can be added (father, brother, husband, son)," explaining this by the necessity of linking their data with the applicant.

It revealed that a mahram's data will only be accepted if they are registered in the electronic portal for Hajj applicants, and there are "no exceptions for individuals not registered to be added as a mahram." It emphasized that registration is available for all residents and citizens who have not performed Hajj in the last five years, with priority given to those who have never performed Hajj before.

If a woman registers her desire to perform Hajj without a mahram and wishes to modify and add a mahram registered in a separate request in the electronic portal, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah stated that "she can add and modify the mahram data starting from the 14th of Dhu al-Qi'dah when the results of accepted applicants for Hajj are announced." On that date, details regarding the availability of packages for booking and purchase will be provided following the selection of candidates for Hajj.

The ministry noted that "registration for Hajj is done individually; it is not possible to register more than one person or add companions in the same registration request." However, companions who successfully completed their registration can be added in the second phase when selecting the service package, highlighting that the package is "individual," and two or more persons cannot register under the same package.
