Saudi Arabia Calls for Completion of Remaining Provisions of the Riyadh Agreement

Saudi Arabia has urged both parties involved in the Riyadh Agreement to urgently respond to the terms agreed upon following a meeting between representatives of the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council to discuss the completion of the implementation of the agreement. In a report published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), it stated that "continuing the Kingdom's efforts since the signing of the Riyadh Agreement to achieve security and stability in Yemen and push all parties to accept political solutions instead of disputes and conflicts," representatives of the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council were gathered in Riyadh to further discuss implementing the Riyadh Agreement.

Both parties agreed to halt all forms of escalation—political, military, security, economic, social, and media—according to an agreed-upon mechanism to cease hostilities. In this context, Saudi Arabia indicated that "the political and media escalations and the subsequent political and military appointments made by the Southern Transitional Council are not in line with the agreements reached between the two parties."

The Kingdom called on both sides of the Riyadh Agreement "to urgently respond to what has been agreed upon, to abandon disputes, to follow the agreed-upon mechanism, to prioritize the public interest for the completion of the remaining provisions of the agreement to unite the ranks of the various segments of the Yemeni people, prevent bloodshed, and heal the rift among its components, and to continue their efforts to restore their state, security, and stability, while supporting efforts to achieve a comprehensive political solution that ends the crisis in Yemen."

The Kingdom affirmed that "the return of the Yemeni government formed in accordance with the Riyadh Agreement is a top priority." It also reiterated its continuous support for the Yemeni government, which includes participation from the Southern Transitional Council, and emphasized the importance of both parties adhering to what has been agreed upon.
