At least three security guards supporting the Pakistani army were killed and 20 others were injured when a suicide bomber on a motorcycle detonated himself in Quetta, in southwestern Pakistan, police reported. The attacker targeted guards from the Frontier Constabulary in the Mian Gundi neighborhood of the city, near the Afghan border, where Shiite traders from the Hazara minority were selling vegetables. Deputy Inspector General of Police Azhar Akram told AFP that 20 people were injured in the attack, including civilians. A spokesperson for the police's anti-terrorism department confirmed the toll. Sunni extremist groups frequently target Shiites in the troubled Balochistan province. Baloch militants seeking greater autonomy also target Pakistani border guards.
