A group of rats bit the toes of a newborn at a government hospital in India last Monday, causing him numerous injuries. The family of the infant, who is only 19 days old, filed an official complaint with the judicial authorities in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, due to medical negligence in the hospital, according to the Indian news site "DNA India."
Local media reported that "hospital officials attempted to settle the situation and compensate the family out of court, but the child's family rejected the offer as the incident caused permanent disability to the child due to the administrative negligence present in the hospital."
The child's mother stated, "When I went to feed my son, I was shocked to see blood oozing from one of his fingers." Sources also reported that "hospital doctors rushed to provide immediate treatment to the child after confirming that a rat had indeed bitten his foot."
