The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that an unidentified drone targeted military positions of the Iranian militia in the city of Al-Bukamal in the Deir ez-Zor countryside today, Friday. It added that fires broke out in some of the sites located near the Aisha Hospital in the city of Al-Bukamal as a result of the drone's strike. This coincided with heavy gunfire sounds in the city, "as the Iranian militia attempted to target the drone with ground anti-aircraft fire," according to the Observatory. The Observatory also noted a "state of alert" in the border city of Al-Bukamal with Iraq. On September 28, the Observatory reported an airstrike by an unidentified warplane that resulted in the destruction of platforms for Iranian-made surface-to-surface missiles, which the Iranian-affiliated militia had installed in the farmland area in the Al-Mayadin desert, considered the largest militia gathering in the region. The airstrike and missile fragments at that time injured at least 12 individuals from the Iranian-affiliated militias of non-Syrian nationalities.
