As the much-anticipated Ballon d'Or ceremony approaches on November 29, Brazilian star Ronaldo Nazário has joined other football icons in nominating players for the award. The player known as "The Phenomenon" announced that he supports Real Madrid and France star Karim Benzema for the title of Best Player in the World, according to the Spanish newspaper "Marca."
When asked about his candidate for this year's Ballon d'Or, Ronaldo, the current president and major stakeholder of Real Valladolid, replied, "Without a doubt, my Ballon d'Or candidate is Benzema." He added, "The best striker in the world, performing at an incredibly high level for 10 years and a champion above all. Doesn't he deserve the award? Don't you think so?"
Argentinian star Lionel Messi, who is also on the list, has nominated Benzema along with his Paris Saint-Germain teammates Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, as well as Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, for the Ballon d'Or.
On Friday, France Football magazine revealed its list of players nominated for this season's Ballon d'Or. Benzema, who is of Algerian descent, is among the thirty candidates and is a strong forward for Spain's Real Madrid. Egyptian Mohamed Salah and Algerian Riyad Mahrez are also on the list.
