Once again, sites belonging to Iranian-backed militias in the city of Al-Bukamal in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria, were hit by airstrikes today, Monday, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The Observatory reported that violent explosions struck the Al-Bukamal area on the Syrian-Iraqi border, which is active with Iran-affiliated militias, coinciding with the flight of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the skies.
Unknown drone aircraft intensified their strikes today, targeting Iranian militias and those affiliated with them near and at the Syrian-Iraqi border in the area west of the Euphrates, according to the Observatory. It clarified that the UAVs conducted four airstrikes from September 3 to October 8.
Additionally, it was noted that these attacks resulted in the deaths of three Iranian-affiliated militiamen of Iraqi nationality, alongside more than 15 injured individuals of various nationalities, some of whom are in critical condition, as well as the destruction and damage of at least six targets.
It is worth mentioning that despite Iran's efforts to solidify its influence in the Syrian areas controlled by its supported militias near the Iraqi border, the recent "unknown" airstrikes that have targeted its sites in these areas undermine its ambitions. The locations where Hezbollah fighters, Iraqi militias, and Iranian and Afghan militias are entrenched in Deir ez-Zor province have been subject to unknown bombardments for some time.
