Moroccan Source Responds to Algerian Presidency Statement

A Moroccan source responded on Wednesday to a statement from the Algerian presidency regarding the killing of three Algerian nationals while traveling on the route linking Nouakchott to Ouargla. The source, whose name was not disclosed, stated to AFP that Morocco "will not be dragged into a war with its neighbor Algeria," emphasizing that Morocco "will not target any Algerian citizen, regardless of the circumstances." The source added, "Morocco does not want to enter a cycle of violence that could destabilize the region." The Algerian presidency's statement indicated that authorities would "immediately take the necessary measures to investigate this matter and clarify its circumstances," while the Mauritanian army denied in a statement on Tuesday that such an attack occurred on Mauritanian territory.
