Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov revealed on Monday that Moscow provided Beirut with satellite images taken on the day of the port explosion. After talks with his Lebanese counterpart Abdullah Bou Habib in Moscow, Lavrov stated that Russia sent Lebanon images of Beirut port before and after the massive explosion that occurred on August 4, 2020. Lavrov told reporters, "At the request of the Lebanese government, we delivered today materials prepared by Roscosmos, satellite images, and we hope they will assist in investigating the causes of that incident. The case is now receiving very serious attention in Lebanon and we hope it can be concluded." The Russian foreign minister also discussed with his Lebanese counterpart the possibility of involving Russian companies in the reconstruction of the infrastructure destroyed by the explosion.
