Egyptian security agencies disclosed surprising details regarding the case that sparked widespread controversy on social media, following a report from the Ministry of Interior regarding the alleged abduction attempt of an Egyptian actress by a taxi driver. The actress Mai Hassan had previously stirred significant reactions with her posts claiming that the driver suddenly changed his route with the intent of abducting her.
The Ministry of Interior stated in an issued statement that the incident was merely a verbal altercation between the actress and a driver from a private transportation company in the Hadayek El Ahram area under the jurisdiction of the Ahram police station, due to a disagreement over the fare upon her exiting the vehicle. The ministry clarified that the rumors regarding an abduction attempt by the driver were unfounded, indicating that the actress believed she was being abducted because of the driver's route change.
Mai Hassan had earlier shared with the newspaper "Al-Watan" the details of the incident she faced, noting that upon returning home around 6:30 PM, she noticed that the driver from a private transportation company had altered his direction. When she asked about the excessive speed and threatened to jump out of the car, the driver simply complimented her, which raised her suspicions. Consequently, she decided to file a complaint against him at the police station, believing he was attempting to abduct her.
