The Saudi Passports department confirmed that the documented photo in the automated system is approved when issuing or renewing a passport. The General Directorate of Passports announced that when issuing or renewing a passport, the beneficiary's photo is not changed; rather, the documented photo in the automated system is relied upon. It emphasized that if there is a desire to change the photo, the beneficiary must visit the Ministry of Interior's Civil Status Agency to update the photo in their civil record, according to Okaz newspaper. The Civil Status Agency revealed that the personal photo in the passport must match the national ID photo and is only changed if there are changes in features or based on medical reports. Additionally, the photo is changed when renewing the "Civil Status Card" or issuing a replacement for a lost or damaged card, where the beneficiary is photographed at the office during their visit.
