Time to Ditch Glasses for Those with Blurry Vision

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the eye drop "Vuity," which may eliminate the need for glasses, especially for those suffering from blurred vision or "presbyopia." According to a report by CBS News, the majority of people aged 40 and older experience difficulties with near vision, necessitating the use of glasses, which could mean that over 128 million people in the United States may stop using them.

The "Vuity" eye drop, approved by the FDA last October, takes about 15 minutes to show effectiveness, providing clearer vision for each eye for 6 to 10 hours. Toni Wright, one of the 750 participants in the clinical trial of the drop, told CBS News, "This drop is life-changing," noting that she used to need glasses at all times. She added, "I thought this was normal especially as I got older, as the need for glasses increased to see everything clearly."

Dr. George Waring, one of the researchers overseeing the clinical trial, stated that the eye drop has the natural ability to reduce the size of the pupil, which expands the depth of focus on different ranges for normal vision. The cost of this drop for a month’s supply in the United States will be around $80. Side effects discovered during the three-month trial included headaches and eye redness.
