Nuclear File: Tehran Sticks to Its Conditions for a

Under the title "Sticking to Its Conditions.. Tehran Seeks a Good Understanding in Vienna," Al Arabiya reported on the Iranian nuclear file and Tehran's conditions for returning to negotiations. The report noted that while Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, Ali Baqeri, continued his European meetings—having visited Paris and Berlin the previous day—he was set to visit London today. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian expressed his country's readiness to reach a "good understanding" in the talks aimed at reviving the 2015 nuclear agreement, scheduled to resume at the end of this month (November 29, 2021). In a tweet in English on his Twitter account Wednesday evening, he stated, "At the negotiating table in Vienna, we are ready to achieve a good understanding. The return of all parties to their commitments is an important and fundamental principle."

#### Iranian Conditions

This came after the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced earlier this week the conditions and objectives for the upcoming talks, demanding the full lifting of U.S. sanctions imposed since the U.S. withdrawal from the agreement in 2018, in addition to discussing mechanisms for verifying the lifting of those sanctions and ensuring that Washington does not withdraw from the deal again. Baqeri clarified in statements to state television late Tuesday night that Tehran would not renegotiate its nuclear program in Vienna, asserting that the agreement was completed five years ago. He said, "The Iranian nuclear issue is not on our agenda in the Vienna negotiations, as this file was closed in 2015 after the nuclear agreement was reached between Iran and the P5+1 countries," referring to the six major powers involved.

He emphasized that the discussions would focus on "the consequences of the U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear agreement and the unlawful sanctions imposed by Washington" following its unilateral exit. It is noteworthy that Tehran and the major powers are preparing to resume Vienna talks on November 29, aimed at reviving the agreement from which the U.S. unilaterally withdrew three years ago, re-imposing severe sanctions on the country.
