The Ismailia Criminal Court in Egypt today decided to refer the papers of the defendant accused of slaughtering a citizen in one of the streets of Ismailia to the esteemed Mufti. The Ismailia Governorate witnessed a horrific crime last November when the defendant, Abdel Rahman Dabbour, decapitated a citizen in a main street of Ismailia and boasted about it in front of shocked bystanders.

The Attorney General, Counselor Hamada El-Sawy, had ordered the referral of the defendant charged with murdering the citizen and attempting to kill two others to the competent criminal court for an urgent trial, to punish him for the allegations against him, including drug use and possession of bladed weapons without legal justification in a public gathering, intending to disturb public order.

Following the incident, investigative authorities decided to detain the defendant for 15 days pending investigations and assigned a forensic doctor to the Ismailia General Hospital to examine the victim's body, confirm the genetic fingerprint, and ensure the severed head belonged to the same body before issuing a decision to hand over the body to his relatives and authorize his burial.
