Egyptian authorities have arrested a Ukrainian woman who regularly stepped out onto her balcony naked in front of passersby and neighbors. Neighbors of the woman, who lives in the Tagamoa area east of Cairo, called the security services, leading to her arrest. She has been referred to the prosecutor on charges of inciting immorality and debauchery. The accused stated to security services that she is of Ukrainian nationality and that she used to go out on her balcony in her home country in the nude, feeling completely free as she was in her own house.
"I am unaware of Egyptian laws," she mentioned, adding that she did not know such actions were illegal in Egypt. She explained that she arrived in Egypt with a group of friends on a tourism trip to visit Cairo's landmarks, and after returning from dinner, she went out to sit on the balcony and removed her upper clothing. She expressed her surprise at the shouts and whistles from neighbors and passersby, stating that she did not understand what they meant. The public prosecutor has decided to summon a representative from the Ukrainian embassy to attend the interrogation sessions with the woman.
