The Ismailia Killer Reveals the Real Reason for His Crime

The Ismailia killer, accused of slaughtering a person in broad daylight on Tanta Street in Ismailia in front of onlookers and severing his head, has revealed the motive behind his heinous act. He stated during investigations: "What happened was that I had given his sister a hair machine to repair, and when I went to retrieve it, a big argument ensued between me and her brother over the machine and the delay in its repair. At that time, I thought about killing him, and the blood rushed to my veins. On that day, I was under the influence of drugs, so I grabbed a cleaver and another knife. When I saw him, I followed him, and we talked before I struck him with the cleaver. When he fled from me into the street, I chased him until he fell, and I kept hitting him until I severed his head. When people gathered around me, I said it was about my sister and mother so I could escape from them."

The accused admitted to using shabu and other types of drugs and stated that he had known the victim for 15 years. The mother of the Ismailia killer revealed to the public prosecutor that she had prior knowledge of the deceased, asserting that the circulated reasons for the stabbing incident, particularly regarding the relationship with the killer's mother and sister, were untrue.

The public prosecutor summoned the killer's mother and sister and listened to their statements for an hour, confronting them with the accused, who also denied committing the act under the pretext of defending his honor as he claimed at the time of the tragic incident. The mother of the Ismailia killer stated in front of the public prosecutor that her son suffers from psychological crises due to his drug abuse and that he had previously been detained in a drug addiction treatment center.

### Psychologically and Mentally Fit

A report from the Egyptian forensic psychiatry department, issued by the regional mental health council assigned by the public prosecutor to evaluate the accused in the Ismailia massacre case, revealed that the accused exhibited no symptoms indicative of any psychological or mental disorder that could impair his judgment, will, or ability to distinguish between right and wrong, both currently and at the time of the incident. This renders him responsible for the charges against him.

Earlier on Thursday, Prosecutor General Hamada El-Sawy ordered the referral of the accused, who fatally stabbed another in Ismailia and attempted to kill two others, to the competent criminal court for urgent trial to punish him for the charges attributed to him, in addition to his drug use and illegal possession of sharp weapons at a public gathering with the intent to disturb public order.
