On Sunday, the traditional "Christmas Swim" took place in Nice, France, as showcased in a photo album by "Sputnik." Under the warm sun and in cold sea waters, which are bearable at just over 15 degrees Celsius, more than 50 people participated in the Christmas swim.
The water temperature is considered "very warm." One swimmer stated, "We came from Brittany, and it is actually warm; it’s not too refreshing."
The Christmas swim has been a tradition in Nice since liberation (after the end of World War II). Thierry Genz, president of the Nice association, remarked, "It has been 75 years since the people of Nice and visitors from neighboring areas have participated in the swim (Christmas Swim). We share in their joy."
The bravest among the swimmers take the opportunity to swim longer distances. If you are tempted by the experience, the next swim will take place on the Promenade des Anglais on January 1st.
