Trump Calls for Ban on Transgender Athletes in Women's Competitions

Former U.S. President Donald Trump called for a ban on the participation of transgender individuals in women's sports during a speech at the American Policy Institute forum in Washington. Trump stated that the performance metrics of transgender athletes are significantly higher than those of women. He concluded that "this is disrespectful to women," and his proposal was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience. Earlier, Britain's Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Nadine Dorries, also advocated for the exclusion of transgender athletes from women's competitions, saying, "We cannot pretend that gender does not affect performance in sports." On June 19, it was reported that FIFA plans to remove the testosterone threshold, making it easier for transgender athletes to participate in women's tournaments. The proposed update to women's football includes allowing all athletes to compete in accordance with their self-identification.
