Drug Trafficker Caught Despite Attempting to Escape

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: As part of the daily follow-up conducted by the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces to curb drug trafficking and promotion in various Lebanese areas, information was obtained about an individual allegedly selling drugs in the southern regions. As a result of thorough investigations and inquiries, the branch identified the suspect, identified as H. Z. D. (born in 1986, Lebanese). Accordingly, orders were given to pinpoint his location and monitor him in preparation for his arrest.

On June 4, 2022, after careful surveillance, one of the branch's patrols was able to set up a well-organized ambush in the al-Abbasiya area in Tyre, which resulted in his arrest while he was in a black "Toyota" vehicle, despite his attempts to escape and run over the patrol officers. During the search of him and the vehicle, a quantity of hashish prepared for selling and a sum of money were seized.

During interrogation, he confessed to selling drugs to numerous clients in various southern areas. Legal proceedings were initiated against him, and he was handed over to the relevant authorities along with the seized items based on judicial instructions.
