Financial Session of the Parliament

The session is crowded with urgent matters, from the demarcation of the southern maritime borders to the election of a new president of the republic, to reaching a final agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The French coordinator for aid to Lebanon, Pierre Duquesne, clarified the conditions during his separate meetings with the three presidents: Michel Aoun, Nabih Berri, and Najib Mikati, amidst a governmental stalemate that is evident to political and diplomatic circles. Meanwhile, President Nabih Berri has called for a session to be held next Tuesday morning, likely in the Parliament Square. According to the agenda, the session can be described by a parliamentary source as a purely financial session, alongside strong interest in placing the banking secrecy law on the agenda, following a report prepared by the head of the Finance and Budget Committee, Ibrahim Kanaan, which considers the observations of the World Bank. President Berri is expected to receive a copy of the report before deciding on the inclusion in the agenda, according to "Al-Liwaa."
