The Bahrain News Agency reported that the tail of a Gulf Air passenger aircraft collided with another plane at Dubai International Airport on Thursday in an incident described by a Dubai Airports spokesperson as a "minor incident." The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority stated in a statement on Thursday, "A minor collision occurred this morning between two planes, one belonging to Flydubai and the other to Gulf Air, on a taxiway at Dubai International Airport, resulting in minor damage to the tail of one aircraft and the wing of the other without any injuries." The agency did not disclose the identity of the other aircraft, but Flydubai confirmed that one of its Boeing 737-800 planes was involved in a minor incident with another aircraft, with initial reports indicating damage to the wingtip. A Dubai Airports spokesperson stated in a message to Reuters, "As a result, one runway was temporarily closed to promptly address the minor incident. Operations at Dubai International Airport were not affected, and the runway was reopened after two hours." The Bahrain News Agency did not mention any injuries or damage and noted that Gulf Air "is currently working to connect passengers from the flight involved in the incident to their final destinations." A Flydubai spokesperson said in an email to Reuters that the incident did not result in any injuries to passengers or crew, adding that passengers used a later flight that had already departed.
