MP Jumblatt: Restoring Lebanon's Relations with Arab Countries, Especially Saudi Arabia, is Essential

The head of the "Democratic Gathering," MP Taymour Jumblatt, held a meeting for the central electoral committee of the Progressive Socialist Party at the party's headquarters in Beirut, attended by General Secretary Dafer Naser, the committee coordinator Interior Commissioner Hicham Nasr al-Din, MP Jumblatt’s advisor Hossam Harb, and committee members from commissioners and branch committee officials, along with regional internal agents.

During the meeting, MP Jumblatt emphasized that "restoring Lebanon's relations with Arab countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, is a necessity, and there can be no economic and political salvation without Lebanon returning to its Arab embrace." He pointed out that "the efforts we have made as a party in this area through communication with our brothers in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and in coordination with friends in France, stem from our conviction that Lebanon cannot continue outside its Arab affiliation." He expressed hope that some parties would stop placing Lebanon in camps that exacerbate its crises and target brothers in the Gulf. He urged the government "to fulfill its full role in this matter to open the door to a new opportunity that allows for a positive path on all levels."

After the members of the committee presented their branch committee works and preparations, MP Jumblatt affirmed "the necessity of insisting on all electoral work focused on the issues of the people and addressing their concerns and demands amid the severe economic and living crisis." He also stressed the "necessity of communicating with everyone, opening up to all segments of society, involving them in the work, and keeping electoral competition within the natural democratic framework, without allowing any party to escalate tensions, and prioritizing purposeful programs over sectarianism."
