Resumption of Trade Movement Between Saudi Arabia and Qatar

Saudi authorities announced today, Sunday, January 17, 2021, that after more than three years of suspension due to the Gulf crisis, trade movement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Qatar has been resumed.

The King Abdulaziz Port in Saudi Arabia stated today that the port received 27 containers arriving from Hamad International Port, as reported on its Twitter account. This comes about two weeks after Saudi Arabia announced the opening of airspace and land and sea borders with Qatar, which the Kingdom had closed on June 5, 2017. On January 9, 2021, Saudi customs began operations at the Salwa border crossing with Qatar, where the first Qatari flights arrived at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh three days later.
