Qatar Calls for De-escalation in the Region

Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani affirmed that Iran is a neighboring country, and that what happens in the region directly impacts Qatar.

In a joint press conference held on Wednesday with his Spanish counterpart Arancha González Laya in Doha, Sheikh Mohammed stated that his country seeks to de-escalate tensions and resume diplomatic efforts to return to the nuclear agreement previously signed between Iran and major powers. He clarified that communication with both the American and Iranian sides has not ceased.

He emphasized that the United States is a strategic ally of Qatar, highlighting Doha's efforts to reduce tensions and contribute to restoring stability in the region. Al Thani also appreciated Spain's role in various regional issues, particularly the Palestinian cause.

For her part, the Spanish Foreign Minister mentioned that regional issues were discussed, considering that the conflicts in the area require dialogue and discussion, describing the relationship between the two countries as "deep."

Recently, the Qatari Businessmen Association announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Spanish Business Association to launch a "Qatari-Spanish Joint Business Council" through video conferencing.
