What Myriam Fareed Said About Sherine's Crisis

The Lebanese artist Myriam Fareed responded to artist Sherine Abdel Wahab regarding the latter's statements about Hani Shakir's support for her during the crisis "I didn't drink from her Nile," while he did not support Sherine.

During a phone call in the program "Al-Hekaya" hosted by journalist Amr Adib on MBC Egypt, she said: "I want to tell Sherine that difficulties will pass, we are all with you, and we are all by your side. You have a powerful voice, and you need to return strongly to your art and your audience."

She added: "I tried to contact Sherine by phone, but I wasn't able to. However, we all love Sherine, and she's going through a tough time that will pass quickly, and we know Sherine is strong."

Regarding the crisis that arose from her statements, which many considered offensive to the Egyptian people, she replied: "Mr. Hani Shakir did not just watch the video from which my statements were taken out of context and caused the crisis, but he watched the entire press conference and asked the journalists who were present."

She continued: "The words that were misunderstood were misunderstood because sometimes there is a difference in the Lebanese dialect that can be taken wrong. Some exploited the video and started to take cheap shots at me with broad and offensive headlines."

She added: "I didn't respond because I know that the Egyptian people are smart. I am a rational person; I started from Egypt, so how could I look down on the people who made me?"

Earlier, Sherine Abdel Wahab spoke about Hani Shakir's lack of support during her recent crisis during statements with Amr Adib on the program "Al-Hekaya": "Hani Shakir stood with Myriam Fareed in her crisis but did not stand by me during the crisis of my concert where I didn't drink from her Nile."
