Lawsuit Against Tesla

The California Department of Motor Vehicles has filed a lawsuit in an administrative state court against Tesla, accusing the company of providing misleading information to consumers regarding the autonomous driving technologies of its vehicles. In the lawsuit filed on July 28, the department stated that the company "issued or published false or misleading statements not based on facts." The legal document noted that "Tesla vehicles have not operated, nor do they currently operate, as autonomous vehicles." The Department of Motor Vehicles claims that Tesla employs a marketing style that portrays the car performance systems as better than they actually are. Winning the lawsuit against the electric vehicle manufacturer could have severe consequences, as it may result in Tesla losing the licenses that allow it to manufacture or sell its cars in California, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. In this context, the Los Angeles Times revealed that the intended actions pertain to the accuracy of information that the company is required to provide to customers.
