Austrian Minister of Labor, Family, and Youth, Christine Aschbacher, announced her resignation from her position following allegations of having stolen numerous research and academic works during her academic career.
Aschbacher was accused of "plagiarism, incorrect citations, and lack of proficiency in the German language" while completing her master's thesis in 2006, for which she received a "very good" grade. A blog specializing in tracking plagiarism had indicated that the thesis "consisted of 134 pages of empty rhetoric, with at least a fifth of it taken from other sources without proper attribution to the original authors."
