Title: Paris on Spying Allegations Against Macron: If Proven, Claims Will Be Extremely Serious

The French presidency responded to questions regarding whether President Emmanuel Macron had been "spied on" by Morocco, stating that "if these claims are proven, they would clearly be extremely serious." France commented on the espionage allegations against Macron: if proven, these claims will be extremely serious. "Le Monde" reported that Morocco used Israeli "Pegasus" software to monitor Macron.

The Élysée Palace indicated that "light will be shed" on these press statements. Laurent Richard, director of the organization Forbidden Stories, which is behind the "Pegasus" program developed by Israel's NSO Group, stated that Macron's and government members' numbers were included in a list of potential targets for the program, confirming the information reported by "Le Monde." The newspaper revealed on Tuesday that these numbers, including that of former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe and 14 government members, appeared "on the list of numbers selected by the Moroccan State Security, using the Pegasus spyware to hack." It is worth noting that an investigation was officially opened today into the case.
