World Bank Approves $100 Million Funding for Madagascar

To support efforts to achieve food security in southern Madagascar, the World Bank's Board of Directors has decided to approve funding amounting to $100 million.

Marie Chantal Olne Oliveira, the Bank's representative in Madagascar, stated that the country will receive this support, which includes a loan and a grant, through the International Development Association, part of the Bank. She added that this financial amount will support a project to assist the citizens of southern Madagascar, and noted that the support for this project is part of a comprehensive program. The President of Madagascar has called on the international community to save 1.35 million people in the south of the country from the risk of famine, pointing out that more than 900,000 of them are facing a food crisis.
