The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a fire broke out on Tuesday morning at a temporary ammunition storage site in a military unit near the town of Maiskoye in northern Crimea. "Russia Today" quoted the Russian defense statement, which noted that as a result of the fire, the stored ammunition exploded, but no serious injuries were reported. The statement added that measures are being taken to extinguish the fire and determine its causes. Earlier, the head of the Maiskoye administration, Nikolai Karbits, stated that after the ammunition explosion that occurred around 6 a.m. in a nearby depot, the evacuation of residents began, confirming the evacuation of approximately two thousand people so far.
