Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan stated on Thursday that the kingdom shares strong and solid ties with Egypt, noting that there is collaboration and coordination with Egypt on all issues. This was said during a press conference in Cairo with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
Bin Farhan emphasized the need for the withdrawal of foreign troops and mercenaries from Libya, while Shoukry stressed the importance of conducting Libyan elections without delay, affirming that "the stability of Libya is essential."
Regarding Iran, the Saudi Foreign Minister stated: "We stressed the importance of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons." He added, "There have been no further meetings with the Iranian side aside from the four that were previously announced, and we are open to continuing the dialogue."
For his part, the Egyptian Foreign Minister mentioned that "there is a special and strategic relationship between us and Saudi Arabia," emphasizing that "we work closely with Saudi Arabia to achieve security and stability in the region."
On the same day, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in preparation for the convening of a follow-up committee and political consultation meeting between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Both sides exchanged views on urgent regional and international issues and the positions of both countries concerning all threats to security and stability in the region, as well as discussing ways to continue enhancing the frameworks for bilateral cooperation within the context of the strong strategic relations between the two countries.
