Apple announced on Tuesday that the next major update for the iPhone operating system, known as iOS 14.5, will be released "next week." Apple revealed the details yesterday during the announcement of new products the company released. iOS 14.5 includes many new features, but the one deemed "revolutionary" and closely monitored is called ATT, or App Tracking Transparency. After iPhone users install iOS 14.5, when they open any app that wants access to their device identifier called the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), they will see a pop-up window asking if they want to be tracked, giving them the option to opt-in.
In turn, companies that rely on online advertising, especially Facebook, have stated that Apple's privacy change for iPhones will reduce the effectiveness and profitability of targeted ads and may disrupt online advertising businesses. For its part, Apple has also expressed readiness to remove apps that do not comply with the new policy. In a blog post, Apple stated that all apps submitted starting April 26 must be ready to support the App Tracking Transparency feature, according to CNBC, which was featured on Al Arabiya.net.
New Features
iOS 14.5 also includes other new features, including a redesigned vaccine emoji, a feature to help unlock the iPhone quickly while wearing a mask, as well as a range of new voices for the Siri voice assistant. Apple typically releases major software updates every Tuesday. The first iPhone incorporating the new system from the outset will be launched on April 30, which was among the products announced by Apple yesterday, including a purple iPhone.
