Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, received a phone call today, Sunday, from Kais Saied, President of the Tunisian Republic. The telephone conversation addressed bilateral relations and ways to support and enhance them in various fields, in addition to the developments of the coronavirus pandemic in both countries, its latest updates, and its impacts on various humanitarian, health, and social levels.
During the call, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed reaffirmed the UAE's support for the Tunisian people in facing the health and humanitarian conditions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, praying to Almighty God to protect our people in Tunisia from all harm. Earlier, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed had directed the provision of 500,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Tunisia. Tunisia is battling a challenging war against the coronavirus pandemic, with the fourth wave of the virus overwhelming the health system, recording thousands of daily infections with the Alpha and Delta variants, amidst warnings from doctors of a catastrophic scenario reminiscent of what occurred in Italy at the beginning of the global pandemic discovery.
