Member of the "Development and Liberation" bloc, Deputy Ali Khreis stated that "President Nabih Berri's initiative is a valid exit for Lebanon from the government formation crisis, and that international and local initiatives are golden opportunities that Lebanese politicians should capitalize on, in order to uplift the country from the depths of the abyss it has fallen into, especially regarding the economic crisis that worsens day by day."
He said: "They, especially in the presidency, should benefit from the events that have rocked Lebanon, which the Lebanese people have all paid the price for, because solutions in this country have always been piecemeal and there have not been any fundamental solutions that put the country on the right track to launch the train of abolishing political sectarianism as it is the crisis of Lebanon." He added: "It is no longer important who takes this ministry or that; what is important is to search for where the country stands and how the citizen lives, and how he can gather his economic crisis, as the majority of the Lebanese people are considered impoverished." He called on the caretaker government to "fully assume its role in addressing important issues and files."
Speaker of the House Nabih Berri confirmed that his initiative is ongoing and will not be retracted, stating, "It remains on the table." He emphasized that the formation should take place between the President of the Republic and the designated Prime Minister, "based on continuous consultation between them until they reach an agreement," clarifying that the President has the right to express an opinion on all ministerial names, "but the designated Prime Minister is responsible for the government before the Parliament according to the Constitution, and therefore he is the one who prepares the government formation draft and submits it to the President, not the other way around."
