Shocking Numbers: Salaries of Barcelona's Top Stars Revealed for the First Time

The Spanish newspaper "AS" revealed today shocking and unexpected figures regarding the salaries of Barcelona's top players, which significantly contribute to the strain on the club's budget, which is struggling under more than 1.5 billion euros in accumulated debt. The newspaper stated that these figures were uncovered through a leak obtained by journalist Luis Canut, who works for "Esport 3."

The shocking surprise is that Barcelona's captain Gerard Piqué receives an annual salary of 28 million euros, followed by Sergio Busquets with 23 million euros, and Jordi Alba and French defender Umtiti, who reportedly earn 20 million euros each, despite rarely playing. Additionally, German international goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen earns 14 million euros, while Brazilian Coutinho (currently on loan at Aston Villa) receives 16 million euros. Both Ousmane Dembélé and Sergi Roberto earn 12 million euros each per year.

Barcelona's management is desperately seeking to reduce these hefty salaries that heavily impact the club’s budget, particularly after Lionel Messi left last summer, having earned a record-breaking 135 million euros annually, along with 21 million euros for Antoine Griezmann, who returned to Atlético Madrid. Contrary to what has been circulated in the media for a long time, Gerard Piqué is almost the only player at Barcelona who has not significantly reduced his salary, due to a special agreement with the club’s management.
