Former Chelsea Owner Seeks “Emergency Loans” from Friends

Russian Roman Abramovich hopes to secure an "emergency loan" after the UK froze all his assets following the Russian attack on Ukraine. The Russian owner of Chelsea was in the midst of selling his English club, but the British government announced it would take over the process and manage the funds. The English newspaper "The Sun" revealed that Abramovich has turned to his friends for £1 million to cope with the sanctions that have started to affect him. The report noted that the Chelsea owner has weekly expenses for his staff amounting to £600,000, and accessing his money has become difficult, prompting him to seek £1 million from each of his celebrity friends, including the famous Rothschild family. So far, no one has agreed to these loans as Roman faces sanctions from various governments around the world, and his allies may fear lending money to a Russian official.
