New Developments in Electricity and Supply: What to Expect Soon

Contrary to expectations, electricity production at the Zahrani power plant is entering a countdown to shutdown, as it is anticipated to go offline tonight, Tuesday, instead of the previously expected date of Tuesday, July 19. It appears that the plant, which has been operating at half capacity, has "betrayed" the Electricité du Liban (EDL), as it has completely run out of fuel oil ahead of schedule. Sources within EDL informed Lebanon24 that "a shipment of gas oil designated for July is expected to arrive at the end of this month, with unloading scheduled for July 28," adding: "After that, the Zahrani plant will be put back into operation."
