An official source in Lebanon announced to Sputnik that "President Michel Aoun will participate in the United Nations General Assembly sessions in New York on September 20." The source clarified that "Aoun made this decision after having previously informed the caretaker government that he would not participate in the General Assembly." It was indicated that "a Lebanese official delegation has left Beirut heading to New York to prepare for Michel Aoun's visit." The 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly is scheduled to begin on September 13, the day after Hungarian Csaba Kőrösi takes office as the new president of the General Assembly for the next 12 months, succeeding the current president, Maldivian Abdullah Shahid, from the 76th session.
