The head of the pharmacists' syndicate, Dr. Joe Seloum, stated that the majority of medications are still unavailable, and currently, the only subsidized medicines are for cancer and severe illnesses. He added in an interview on LBCI: "In two weeks, medications for cancer patients will be secured with funding opening up to 50 to 60 percent, but the problem remains with chronic disease medications, where their prices will be shocking and extremely high with the removal of subsidies." He noted that "everything that is subsidized is missing, and the prices of what we import are not affordable for patients. Therefore, we should support the patients, not the funds. Lifting subsidies on medications is necessary to reduce smuggling, but this must be accompanied by direct support for patients through a medication card to enhance patients' financial ability to purchase their medications."
