Xavi's First Comment After Barcelona's Draw with Sevilla

Barcelona's head coach, Xavi Hernandez, expressed his frustration after his team fell into the trap of a 1-1 draw with Sevilla on Tuesday in a postponed match from the fourth round of La Liga. Pablo Gomez scored for Sevilla in the 32nd minute, while Ronald Araujo equalized for Barcelona in the 45th minute.

Xavi said after the match in comments reported by the Spanish newspaper "Marca": "I have a (mixed) sweet and bitter feeling, and it will be hard for me to sleep, as we needed to win today (yesterday)."

He added: "We need to be calmer. In the first half, we were very good and showed our character; the team is developing and we are doing well."

Xavi further stated: "We played to win, and I am proud and happy with the team and their commitment; Dembélé played as a winger today but was missing the goal."

Regretting the missed victory, Xavi said: "It's a shame to come out with a draw. We had a golden opportunity to reach a Champions League qualifying position, and the point does not help us. The feelings are good, but the result is not, and we will try again in the new year."

With this draw, Sevilla’s points total rose to 38, placing them second in the La Liga standings, five points behind leaders Real Madrid, while Barcelona's points increased to 28, placing them seventh, two points behind Rayo Vallecano, who are in fourth place, the last qualifying spot for next season's Champions League.
