Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stopped yesterday morning while inspecting construction work to develop several roads, axes, and bridges in East Cairo. He spoke with a group of citizens who were riding a motorcycle when they coincidentally crossed his path.
Video footage released by the Egyptian presidential spokesperson shows El-Sisi halting his convoy to converse with a family on the motorcycle and inquiring about their well-being. He emphasized the importance of adhering to safety measures for their protection.
In the video, El-Sisi asked them, "Where are you going?" One of them responded, "This is my sister, and we are taking her to her sister's place." The president then asked, "And who is this girl?" The citizen replied, "This is my son." El-Sisi responded, "That's very dangerous for you; where's your helmet?” The citizen said, "I’m driving slowly and carefully."
El-Sisi further asked the citizen, "Where do you live, and what do you do?" The citizen answered, "I live at kilometer four and a half... I work as a delivery driver." El-Sisi continued, "How much do you earn in a day?" The citizen replied, "I charge ten and a half pounds per hour for the service, sir." The president asked for clarification, and the citizen explained, "If the ride costs ten pounds, I take five pounds, and the shop takes five."
The presidential spokesperson noted that El-Sisi was keen to ensure the workers at various sites were completing their tasks as planned and listened to their opinions. He congratulated them on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan while stressing the adherence to precautionary measures regarding the coronavirus for their safety. El-Sisi was on a tour inspecting development works around Cairo International Airport.
