Qatari-American Diplomatic Effort: Phone Call to Address Iran Tensions

Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, focusing on recent regional developments, particularly efforts to de-escalate tensions between the U.S. and Iran, and enhancing prospects for a diplomatic resolution to the crisis.


The Qatari Emiri Diwan stated that Sheikh Tamim emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue and the use of diplomatic means to address contentious issues, stressing the need for all parties to adhere to the agreements outlined in the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran, and supporting international initiatives aimed at containing tensions and establishing security and stability.


President Trump, for his part, praised Qatar's role in supporting diplomatic efforts and facilitating dialogue among various parties, considering that this role contributes to enhancing security and stability in the region.


The two leaders also discussed several issues of mutual interest, affirming the importance of ongoing coordination and consultation on regional and international developments, in a way that serves the interests of both countries and supports efforts to calm the region.
