Lebanese artist Elissa shared new insights about her artistic and personal life in “Elissa Podcast” on Anghami. In the fourth episode, she discussed the secrets and behind-the-scenes stories of her most famous songs.
Elissa touched on her artistic beginnings and confirmed that she initially rejected several songs in Gulf and standard Arabic dialects, despite not being known or a professional singer at the time. She felt they did not suit her and chose the song "Badi Dop." However, before that, she accidentally heard a tune from a Turkish song that she liked and insisted on incorporating it into her song "Bitghib Bitruh."
She mentioned that artist Ragheb Alama had requested to sing with her on the track, which she considered a significant step forward in her early career—a dream beginning to come true. Elissa also noted that she had released some songs she wasn't fully convinced by and stated that if she could go back in time, she wouldn’t accept to sing or shoot them, such as "Wakhritha Ma'ak," because she had sung similar ones without feeling them and felt repetitive.
She revealed that she used to consult her mother for song choices, indicating her inability to listen to her song "La Trooh" as it is linked to her late father, and she recorded it during his illness, finishing it on the day he passed away, since then she has been unable to hear it.
Regarding her song "Fakar," Elissa stated: "I loved someone, and I had work in Egypt, so we decided to meet there. While we were there, a problem occurred, and he left the country, breaking my heart. Mohammad Rahim came to me, and I was upset; he played 'Fakar' for me, and that song destroyed me. It expressed what I felt and became one of my favorite songs without being linked to a bad memory. I listen to it all the time."
She concluded by discussing a particular song she considers special, "Hikayat," saying, "Every time I want to sleep, I play this song and feel a wonderful sensation," urging her followers to listen to it, close their eyes, and tell her if they felt the same way while listening.
