The Internal Security Forces in Lebanon announced on their official website that as part of the daily follow-up carried out by the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces to investigate crimes occurring across various regions of Lebanon, information was received on April 21, 2021, from a citizen about a person named (A.H.) trafficking in drugs and counterfeit currency from his Hyundai vehicle in the Tabarja area.
Subsequently, one of the patrols from the branch arrested him in his vehicle, and during the search, nine transparent bags containing hashish, one piece of the same substance, and two transparent bags containing salvia were seized. During the investigation, he denied the allegations of trafficking and using drugs. No suspicions about his connection to drug-related issues were established following inquiries by the relevant units.
It was also found that the informant was related to the arrested individual's wife, which raised suspicions. Therefore, the branch was instructed to work on apprehending them to clarify the matter. On April 22, 2021, the branch’s patrols successfully arrested them in the areas of Jounieh and Tabarja. They were identified as: S.H. (born in 1984, Lebanese) and R.S. (born in 1986, Syrian).
A search of the first individual's car revealed a military pistol and a magazine containing eight live rounds. During the interrogation, they confessed to planning to plant the hashish in the husband’s car (A.H.) to frame him in a drug case and get rid of him. They executed the plot by having the first person place the drugs in the husband’s vehicle with the latter's assistance and then reported him for arrest.
The individual (A.H.) was released, and legal action was taken against both (S.H.) and (R.S.), who were detained along with the seized items, as per the judicial authority's instructions.
