Al Wahda secured a spot in the semifinals of the Professional Cup by defeating Al Nassr with a score of 2-0 in a match held today, Tuesday, at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The first leg between the two teams had ended in a goalless draw.
Al Wahda concluded the first half by scoring both winning goals through Joao Pedro in the 15th minute and Khalil Ibrahim in the 17th minute. The team delivered its best performance of the season, fueled by the brilliance of Brazilian striker Pedro, who was effectively supported by coach Gregory's tactical setup with Khalil Ibrahim and Mansour Al Harbi on the flanks, and Tahnoun Al Zaabi behind them.
This attacking combination allowed Al Wahda to apply pressure from the first minute, with Khalil missing a clear chance to score when he was one-on-one with the goalkeeper, shooting next to the left post. Ibrahim also missed another opportunity alone on goal, which was saved by goalkeeper Abdullah Al Tamimi, resulting in a corner kick.
However, Pedro capitalized on the first opportunity that came his way, receiving a pass inside the box, dribbling past Yaqub Hassan, and firing a left-footed shot into the net. Less than two minutes later, Khalil Ibrahim added the second goal after a perfect pass from Tahnoun Al Zaabi, breaking free towards goal and placing the ball to the right of the Al Nassr goalkeeper.
Pedro squandered another chance at the end of the first half when he struck a shot from inside the box that hit the crossbar and turned into a corner kick. Al Nassr showed no response in the second half and did not threaten goalkeeper Rashid Ali's goal with any noteworthy attempts, unlike Al Wahda, who continued their attacking momentum. Tahnoun Al Zaabi nearly added a goal with a set-piece shot from the edge of the box that went past the post.
