Lebanon 24 reported from high-level sources involved in governmental communications that a preliminary agreement on a possible solution to the government formation crisis has been drafted after a series of mediations and consultations among the various key parties. The agreement consists of three points:
First: The government will consist of 18 ministers, which constitutes a "gain" for the designated prime minister who declared from the first day of his assignment that he would only form a government with 18 ministers.
Second: All parties concerned, including Hezbollah, have agreed on the principle of not granting any team the blocking one-third of the ministerial seats within the government.
Third: Regarding the three portfolios that form the core of the primary discussion, which are Energy, Justice, and Interior, it was agreed that the two parties forming the government, namely the President and the designated prime minister, will prepare a list of proposed ministerial names and then exchange these lists in preparation for detailed discussions on them and selecting the most suitable candidates.
Lebanon 24 learned that the influential parties in the formation process are now fully informed about the proposed solution. However, the essence remains in the sincerity of intentions among those directly involved in the government formation to overcome personal sensitivities and start implementing the agreed-upon plan practically.
