The media office of the Minister of Finance in the caretaker government, Dr. Ghazi Wazni, denied rumors regarding the provision of a loan exceeding one million Lebanese pounds to public sector employees.
The National News Agency reported that the media office of Minister Wazni confirmed in a communication with them that there is no intention to grant public sector employees a loan of 1,200,000 Lebanese pounds to be included in the payroll. The office noted that it is the government that studies the issue of support, determines the beneficiaries, and makes the decisions, not the Minister of Finance.
The Administrative Committee of the Association of Official Secondary Education Teachers in Lebanon held a meeting via Zoom, during which they discussed the outcomes of a meeting held at the Ministry of Finance to reject clauses that affect gains and rights. The meeting also touched on the issue of the loan, with the committee announcing that an agreement had been reached with Minister of Finance Dr. Ghazi Wazni for all public sector employees and retirees to benefit from a monthly loan of 1,200,000 LBP approved by the government, to be included in payrolls, as was previously done with the 200,000 LBP loan, and not as some believe to be a food card. The committee considered it a first phase in the battle to correct salaries and wages in the councils of ministers and representatives.
