Future Movement Issues Directive Against Gatherings for 16th Anniversary of Rafik Hariri's Assassination

The Future Movement has issued a directive to its coordinators in various regions to refrain from any activities involving gatherings or similar events on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the assassination of martyr President Rafik Hariri.

Previously, events were held at the memorial for the martyr President at the entrance of the boulevard bearing his name on the waterfront of Sidon. This decision comes in light of public safety concerns due to the exceptional circumstances the country is facing due to the spread of the "COVID-19" pandemic.

The National News Agency reported that the annual celebration of the Future Movement's coordination in Sidon and the south to mark the 16th anniversary of Rafik Hariri's assassination did not take place. The report clarified that this event, which used to occur at the memorial site at the entrance of the boulevard, was ceased following the directive from the Future Movement to avoid gatherings for public safety reasons.

Instead of the celebration, candles were lit at the memorial in honor of the commemorated figure, and pictures of him and his son, President Saad Hariri, were displayed alongside the memorial plaque, which bears the famous phrase by the martyr President: "I entrust this beloved country, Lebanon, and its good people to God Almighty."

In a related context, Sidon Mayor Engineer Mohammed Saudi paid tribute to the spirit of the martyr on the 16th anniversary of President Rafik Hariri's martyrdom, recalling the national legacy and positions of the martyr President, which were widely recognized among the Lebanese for their benefit to the nation and citizens.

In a statement circulated by the municipal media office, Saudi stated, "On this sorrowful occasion, we remember the tremendous efforts exerted by the builder of modern Lebanon, martyr President Hariri, to reconstruct Lebanon after it was devastated by the cannons of the civil war."

He emphasized that there is an urgent need today to preserve what remains of the nation, which requires swift action in line with the martyr's national vision across various fields, if everyone wishes to uplift this country again and restore Lebanon's pioneering role in the world.
