His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, affirmed that "the unification of the armed forces under one central banner and leadership was a wise decision that embodied the profound vision and prudent approach committed to by our founding fathers to establish a robust federal state capable of enhancing its security, safeguarding its wealth, and defending its interests."
In a statement made through "Dar Al Watan" magazine on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the armed forces' unification, the President noted that "what our armed forces have achieved in terms of advanced status, high readiness, and notable internal and external accomplishments did not come out of nowhere, but is the result of a purposeful developmental plan adopted by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. We have continued on this same path with my brothers, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, along with the members of the Supreme Council of the Union, the rulers of the Emirates."
His Highness added that "the brave armed forces are the fortified shield of the nation and its safety valve, protecting its achievements. The modernization and development of the armed forces will remain a strategic goal and top priority. We are committed to equipping them with the latest systems, weapons, and equipment, while providing the highest levels of training, qualification, and care for their members. We also place great attention and care on our national defense industries."
